STEM Program @ St. Thomas Apostle School

Dates: Once a month (click on form below)

Event Details:

Join us as we deliver Building Bridges STEM programs, where students across grade levels engage in hands-on STEM experiments and apply problem-solving skills to real-world challenges.

Volunteer Duties:

Volunteers will assist with hands-on STEAM activities, mentor students, and promote a supportive learning environment. Your role will help encourage leadership, innovation, and interest in STEM fields.


After-School @ Lara Academy Pink Panthers

Event Details:

Pink Panthers is an afterschool club for middle school girls at Lara Academy. It is dedicated to teaching girls about sisterhood, community service, team building, empowerment, and leadership. Join us as we implement a mentoring workshop focused on setting goals.

Volunteer Duties:

Volunteers will assist with hands-on STEAM activities, mentor students, and promote a supportive learning environment. Your role will help encourage leadership, innovation, and interest in STEM fields for girls.


Black Creativity Jr Science Cafe

Date: Thursday, February 5, 2026

Time: 9:30am-12:30pm

Location: Griffin Museum of Science & Industry (5700 S DuSable Lake Shore Dr, Chicago, IL 60637)

Event Details:

Jr. Science Cafés are small, focused sessions that offer young people the exciting opportunity to interact directly with STE(A)M professionals. We will feature our LED Popsicle Flashlight program. Students will learn the basics of electric circuits and apply it to building a flashlight with LED lights and popsicle sticks.

Volunteer Duties:

Black Creativity Career Showcase

Date: Saturday, February 14, 2026

Time: 8:30am-3:00pm

Location: Griffin Museum of Science & Industry (5700 S DuSable Lake Shore Dr, Chicago, IL 60637)

Event Details:

In celebration of Black Creativity, kids and families can talk with African American artists, scientists and engineers about innovative work. This is an opportunity to learn from experts during dynamic demonstrations, hands-on activities and one-on-one conversations. We will feature our Beverage Chemistry STEM Program. Students will conduct an experiment using sports beverages to understand how the effects of baking soda can alter pH and cause a color change.

Volunteer Duties:

Volunteers will assist with setup and breakdown of station, replenishing materials, facilitating the experiment with guests, and creating a fun, learning environment.

Event Details:

Join us as we deliver Building Bridges STEM programs, where high school students will lead engaging NeuroMaker Program activities featuring hands-on experiences that explore neuroscience, brain-inspired technology, and creative problem-solving.

Volunteer Duties:

Volunteers will support hands-on NeuroMaker activities, guide students through brain-inspired projects, and provide mentorship in a collaborative and supportive learning environment. Your role will help foster leadership, innovation, critical thinking, and curiosity in neuroscience and STEM fields.
